The translation of the book will be released in Spanish (at least in Spain) on March, 7th, 2011.

Wish people would stop commenting about hater commenter’s comments because that is just stupid since they won’t even be bothered and it just makes the page longer and people get confused what to read or not. (I hate writing this myself after what I just said.)

Once i’m done moving and get settled, I’m completely going to send him a fan mail! Though, short and to the point is going to be hard for someone whom is ADHD… But i’ll manage it! Maybe it will just sound like my Super fan contest entry, but on paper. (THAT, was short and to the point. I can talk very fast, I managed to fit a 20 minute conversation into 2 minutes. xD

Oh, also, I got six dragons on a game… and named the violet one Thorn… xD The black one, however, was named Onyxia because found it to be a rather epic name. And… you can guess the blue and gold one’s names.

Love the first 3 books. Just finished reading them all a third time now haha. My question is this; How long do you think it will be from the time the release date is announced until the book comes out…in other words, how much in advance would the book be announced of its release?

I am not really moaning that the book is taking so long, it will be finished when it will be finished.

But I am concerned of the books quality itself. It will either be fantastic or terrible. I just dont want to get the book in September 2011, start reading it, finish reading it, put it down and say, thats it? That is what I waited years for, I have faith in Paolini he will deliver an amazing book, I just hope our waiting isnt in vain.

If people want to man, they can moan. If you don’t like a comment, you are not forced to. Just accept that not everyone is even convinced that CP will even finish this book.

I personally think it will be a let down. Too long to come out, and no way of it answering all the Qs in a conclusive fashion.

This isn’t a crticism towards you Mike, and I am writing in a ‘civil’ way. I think you’ve done a great job.

how much do the autographed books usually cost?

This is a bit off topic but i read beowulf today for the first time and the name of the king in beowulf is Hrothgar and my teacher was telling us that the word that the word they used for fate is “wyrd” and the ancient language word for fate is “wyrda”. i guess this means that CP is a beowulf fan.

I would love for C.P. to release a Book IV teaser or some sort of except!!!

This community does have people with issues who complain too much, along with a great group of intelligent individuals. Mike, you have done a great job, and I find naysayers unbelievably annoying. However,in my view, deleting any negative comment is ridiculous because you have to accept both praise and criticism. By continuing to remove negative comments, I feel thay you will only encourage them to be more vocal. Discredit them all you want, but depriving them of a voice on a comment board is wrong.

So, after days of moaning at us for posting offensive remarks, and then punishing everyone collectively for the idiocy of some individuals, this is the best post you could write? Slow news day or fast news day, this is poor. Relaying CPs personal fanmail whinges like some sort of obedient middleman?

I’m just glad I don’t have to pay for this, as for your ‘cleaning up’, if you find words offensive mate, who says you have to read them, or who says you have to like them? But why remove a portrayal of someone’s emotion or disapointment, just because you can’t take the criticism? Even great sites like this will be criticised by some individuals, even if, as I previously stated they are acting like idiots.

You know, i’ve decided the only reason I play World of Warcraft (And yes, I DO have a life at the same time. ) is because of the similarity with CP’s elves and the night elves (Thoguth they have a godess and dark skin and crap, similar. Not the same, though). I even named my favorite character ‘Oromidail (Oromis + Aiedail = epic name) and plan on getting as many dragons as I possibly can… (Got one for my dad’s character (He has a life, too) and named it Glaedr! XD) Which, with my obsession with mounts, will probably amount to 10… probably more though! But I only really play it because i’m constantly amused by the similarity.

Anyways, stop being whiny brats, though my saying won’t help this. -Insert witty comment about Justin Beiber here- and all that crap.

its possible that CP is entertaining questions now because he is done with the book and its out for editing. Why else would he do this if he’s writing the book? It would only distract him and take longer for him to finish

@Josiah It *was* a great source of information until about four months ago; since then nothing new has been said, all “news” is just reiterating old announcements, and CP’s been “darn close” for a long time. When is book 4 going to come out? At this point I’m wondering whether it will.

No one needs to write him. Leave him alone so he can finish up the last book. -_-

I’m so glad there’s a mail address for him; he’s one of my few favorite authors I can actually contact and know I’ll recieve SOMETHING back! It’s better than posting and hoping someone else who knew his address would mail it to him. Thanks for posting it, Mike! P.S. you do a great job with Shurtugal.com. I just wish news would come faster For all you people who drone on about how unfair it is that he isn’t going that fast, chill! Do you know how slow writing can become, if you’ve got writer’s block or just lose interest in your own story line? I’m not saying Chris is like that, but heck, I am! I have a crazy imagination, I write little stories all the time that I lose interest in later. Yeah, he’s under preassure! But if you want info, that leads to a soon release, and if he’s not ready, that’s a terrible book. And after all he’s done that’s awesome, it would stink. What I do is I don’t read the books a lot. If I avoid the books, look on Shurtugal maybe once a week, I don’t get swelled with hope to have it deflated. But because I don’t focus so much on it and don’t get so discouraged so often, I don’t feel angry toward Chris and the series. I know that the longer it takes to write, the better it will be because he has more time to improve it.
But it may just be me. I don’t know about the rest of you, but that’s what I suggest. And don’t be hateful, it gives the author bad feelings about writing it for you. Like my friend says, ‘Don’t hate. Appreciate!” And don’t junk up his mailbox. He may change the address, and like someone else said, it will take longer to write book 4 because he’s answering you. Anyway, I’ve spilled my gut feelings about this, and I hope someone out there listens and likes what my ramblings say. Ciao.

I’ve been an active viewer of this site, but not an active commenter, for over 3 years now. It’s been a fantastic source of news, and I especially have loved it whenever Mike gets an interview with CP; as one of my biggest writing inspirations I always enjoy reading what he has to say on a topic.

But after 3 years of viewing, I have at last decided to comment on the one thing about this site that I dislike.

It’s the continual comments of hating and impatience that I am addressing. Doesn’t matter who is doing it, there’s always someone, in at least one comment in a new article, complaining about the content (or lack of). Be it complaints about how fast Paolini is writing Book 4, (the same pace he always has, 3 years a book,) complaints about content on Shurtugal not directly related to Inheritance news, (Lytherus updates, etc), or complaints about the staff on here, (all of whom do this voluntarily out of their love for the series), it never ends.

Please understand, guys, that no random comment here on Shurtugal, no matter how strongly worded, is going to speed Paolini’s writing by one keystroke, nor will it release a tidal wave of Inheritance news by one article. Be patient; I’ve been following Inheritance since right before Eldest came out, and believe me, I know it’s frustrating to wait and wait for the next installment. But it’ll come. In my opinion in fact, we’ll see Book 4 hit shelves around the end of this year, as that would fit into the schedule we had with Eragon / Eldest / Brisingr, all of which were 3 years apart. (Brisingr came out in 2008.)

Anyways… I know this isn’t going to stop haters from hating, or complainers from complaining. But just lay off the staff, eh? Mike and crew do their best to give us what we get here, and even the (now-infamous) Lytherus is an effort to keep new content coming. When Inheritance News runs dry, we can still have news about all the other new media we enjoy. Anyway. I’ve had my rant. Thanks for what you do, Mike and crew, you’ve made my last 3 years as an Inheritance fan more fun than a dragon ride over Du Weldenvarden.

It’s really nice that he responds to all the letters but I hope, for the sake of Book 4, that he doesn’t spend all his time reading fan mail! We want him to finish Book 4 as quickly as possible!

Of course it is frustrating to wait for book 4, specially for the people who have waited for all or most of the books. However, I see no point in bugging the creator of the site about silly things like the relevance of the post or the release date. Really, will insulting Mike and demanding information not even Christopher knows for sure make the book come out any sooner? Nope.
I’ve always thought this book attracted intelligent readers so I think some people around here should start acting intelligent.

i find it really ironic how mike is always saying that people have a sad life when all he does is sit in his little hole and get pissed off when people rant out there opinion. then he rants in return , removes comments and generaly sulks like a spoilt brat whos game has been taken over by his play mates. he will probably remove/ reply to this post in a personal way in another spoilt way but my point has been made.
of course people want to know when the book comes out so just put up with it because you do too

While I do think that this is very cool and a very generous offer on Christopher’s part, I think it would be more interesting if he (or Random House) simply typed up the questions into a file that they could send to the fan site. That way, everyone could see what he had to say, instead of each individual sending him a single letter and HOPING that he has the time to answer it.
I know that that is what the multiple interview transcripts are for, but still, if he’s going to be answering even MORE questions about the series (or himself) I’m sure that ALL of the fans would love to see his responses.

Please don’t post any news unless it pertains in any way to Book IV because my hopes rise when I see something new on the news feed then falls when it is something unrelated like this one ^
