THE RACES OF ALAGAESIA
HUMANS
Most of the known world of Alagaësia seems to be populated by humans. Despite the dominance, they are not a native race; only recently did they come to Alagaësia from across the sea. A group of twenty humans traveled to Alagaësia three hundred years after the formation of the Dragon Riders, roughly three thousand years from the present. DWARVES
The race of the dwarves were a strong, powerful race that have ruled in Alagaësia for eight millennia’s from Farthen Dûr without any opposition from the elves or the humans. DRAGONS
Dragons have an air of mystery surrounding them. No one knows where they come from, though they were one of the first inhabitants of Alagaësia. They have abilities that even they sometimes cannot explain as they are magical creatures. DRAGON RIDERS
Dragon Riders play a vital role in the Inheritance series. The main protagonist, Eragon, becomes a Rider early on in the cycle, and this changes his fate, along with the fate of all those around him, and on a larger scale, the fate of all the inhabitants of the Empire.

URGALS
Urgals. The very sound of the word brings an impression of churlishness, brute force, and negativity. Like bullies claiming a school yard, the Urgals staked their adversarial role in Eragon with hostility and intimidation. The Urgals are not native to Alagaësia; they followed the Elves' migration from Alalea.
