Our friends over at Suvudu.com, Random House's fantasy and sci-fi blogging initiative, have informed us of an exciting activity they're running to coincide with March Madness: SF/fantasy-character cage matches. Suvudu's team of editors selected a large group of popular and easily-recognizable fantasy and SF characters to fight in pre-written cage matches. The winner of each round is up to the viewers (done by vote). Our very own Eragon will be pitted against Aslan in the third division on March 10th. If Eragon makes it through the first round (which he will with your help - be sure to vote!), he'll move on to fight the other round one winners. Aslan is never going to see it coming! Be sure to continue reading for more information on the event! Continue reading...

As you've noticed by now, Shurtugal.com and it's sub-sites (Shur'tugal Fan Fiction excluded -- we're still working on bringing this back up) are back online and on a new host. We have a lot of great things in store for the websites in the near future, all of which will be recapped in a six year anniversary post this weekend. In the mean time, we'd like to ask all of our visitors to report any errors they may have found on the website (broken links, broken features, etc.) in the comments of this news post so that we can fix them as soon as possible. On a related note, we'd love to hear any suggestions for ways to improve the website or features to add to the website from you guys, so feel free to share those in the comments as well!

By now you're all wondering - why haven't you guys at Shur'tugal asked us for questions for the fifth question and answer interview with Christopher Paolini yet?! Since we started the Q&A this summer, we've received over one thousand questions for Christopher from you guys! Because we can only ask Christopher a set amount of questions per month, a lot of great questions were left behind (but not forgotten). We've decided to play catch up and use some of the great questions that we had to skip for the fifth Q&A, as well as discussing Christopher's two new fall release books. So what does this mean for the fifth Q&A and all of the rest going forward? It means we won't be taking questions for a fifth Q&A, but we will begin taking questions for the sixth Q&A soon (and plan to continue doing so for the next few Q&As, before we play catch up again and do a Q&A using our skipped questions). Sit tight, you'll hear from us again soon!

Our favorite author and the man behind the fantasy series that has brought us all here turns twenty-six today! It's hard to believe that Christopher Paolini sat down as a teenager over ten years ago and began what would become one of the most beloved fantasy novels of our generation. Since then, Christopher has inspired thousands of young adults to pick up a pen and paper to weave a fantasy tale of their own. His hard word, dedication, and imagination has shown even society's most stubborn that a person's age no longer dictates one's accomplishments. We all wish you a very happy birthday, Christopher! Just make sure to save us a bit of cake.
