I honestly don’t think Arya and Eragon would work because of how many times Arya has turned Eragon down. Because I recall Saphira saying at one point that she has to give Eragon her blessing or something otherwise it wouldn’t work out. Which makes me doubt that after Arya hurt Eragon so many times Saphira would agree to him being with her. I mean Saphira is the other part of his soul and she shared his pain in some way.

I want to see your theory’s on Eragon’s payment to the Menoa Tree. For those of you that don’t know, in book 3 when he was looking for the metal to make his sword, they ended up making a deal. However, Eragon didn’t know what the price was, and the Menoa Tree said he would find out eventually. Put your theories below.

The egg was only farried between the Dwarves and Elves once the Varden began living with them. Varden being HUMAN. Beside, the King isn’t aloud to make decitions like that without first speaking with the Clan leaders.

Unlikey, it took the whole race of Dragons to expaned the origanal pack. Thorn (though froced) and Shruikan are evil and it would not help them in the war. The Green Dragon would be young and uncapable of such magic. Saphira would not be able to do it alone. Not possible. Also you forget that the dragons are not able to use magic at will.

I agree Angela is not Selena, but Brom wouldn’t really have to recognize her. As it says in book three, it is very easy to change your aperance, and Angela is a witch.

Ok, heres what i thinks gunna happen:
Arya will be the new rider, green eyes = green dragon! Plus her and Eragon and their
two dragons would make a nice “couple”,
If you read Eragon page 81, Eragon has a premonition, he sees himself and Arya boarding
an elf ship to take them “out of Alegasia and never to return”.. And Murtagh is the man crying
as Galbatorix killed Thorn. The two dragons seen flying overhead are Saphira and Arya’s dragon.
My guess is Galbatorix defeats Eragon, then Murtagh betrays Galbatorix to save Eragon.
Also, the Raz’ac mention (in brisingr) the Galbatorix has almost found, “The true name”, my guess is that he is trying to find either Eragons name or the true name of the ancient language
so he can control it and anyone who uses it. Also, i think that Solumbum’s propecy when he says, “All seems lost, speak your name to open the vault of souls”, refers to Eragon speaking his TRUE NAME in the ancient language and it will reveal a store of Eldunaris, Paolini (legend) drops loads of hints if you read carefully and think what he means. However, one big thing that i think will eb revealed will be that Angela is one of the fabled “grey folk” who created the ancient language, would make sense. Honestly i think these events will probably happen, you heard it here first, dont you dare copy any of my frikin ideas!

What about the girl in book three..who angela reads for? I think she’ll be the new dragon rider. Otherwise why have her in there? Maybe they stole the egg or something…I agree with the idea that eragon is the first rider or they share a common link. Maybe the first dragon was called brisingr? Makes sense naming the first dragon fire.. And I don’t think it’ll be huge collection of souls maybe just one. the first dragon. As for the torture and dungeon eragon undergoes i think it’ll be a lead up to him finding the rock and the soul vault. And i think that stranger hermit angela learned from..he’s trying to find galbatrix true name or what was it the word for magic. The word that would give him full power of the entire language. a theory i just shared earlier. what if the chapter brains is about a word or phrase in the ancient language that will allow the user to control someone without knowing their true name? if eragon learns it then it could be very useful against murtagh and our friend galby over in Urû’baen lol

the new rider’s gonna be a dwarf and Angela is really Selena.

The human race and the elves are united by the blood-oath that they made with the dragons of old. Dwarves are pretty much isolated from these two races because of it. So the unifying factor between the races of Alagaesia would be the green dragon egg hatching for a dwarf.

Though I highly doubt CP would reference Christianity, it does seem that if the last rider is a dwarf, a trinity would form. Galbatorix could be a reference to satan, the main antagonist against God. Elves, Humans, and Dwarves (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) vs. Galbatorix (The ultimate traitor/satan).

Like I said, I highly doubt, even if a dwarf is the Green Rider, that CP would reference something like Christianity. Another thing that makes me doubt this even more is that Dwarves are not known for their magical prowess, except for their magical lanterns and the showdown Eragon had under Farthen Dur in Brisingr. If anything, the showdown under Farthen Dur shows that Dwarves have some magical/rider potential because the dwarves that protected Eragon’s assailants did a damned good job. Eragon couldn’t touch them with magic.

So it’s pretty much up for grabs whom the new rider is to be.

I think the dwarves were added to the pact, only it was a super secret between Hrothgar and Islanzadi so that the other clans dont object otherwise whats the point of ferrying the egg between the dwarves and the elves? And none of the dwarves became riders because they hated dragons but Orik dosent hate dragons because of Saphira. So Orik will somehow find the egg and it will hatch for him and then Islanzadi will tell him the truth.

Arya will not be the new rider, to obvious. but then again brom was eragons father and that was pretty obvious too….

Angela is not going to involved with a shade, she in fact will become the shade… the spirits inside her will have her kill Nausadia to be the knife in the back thus leaving Eragon or Roran as the head of the varden. Most likely be Roran since he is going to be the king after the war is over.

personally i think the heart of hearts thing takes away from the series as a whole yet without it Eragon has no hope of defeating galbatorix.

I highly expect Roran to be the new rider. He has the blood of two other riders and he has the right personality.

Couldn’t Eragon just use the spell Ormis taught him to transport a stone inside Galbatorix’s head causing the whole explosion displacement thing. I think I’m correct in saying Galbatorix doesn’t know about that spell and if he does I doubt he’d think it could be used as a weapon. Plus it has a nice irony to it. Eragon is trapped and exausted by Galbatorix, he looks to Gladear for support and he reminds him of the last lesson Eragon had with Ormis.

i think that the seven words that brom spoke to Eragon when he died was a spell to disconnect galbatorixs from all his dragon’s hearts of hearts. I also believe that the green dragon rider will be one of the elven children.
As to the vault of souls i have my own ideas, but were all just gonna have to read the book.

I can easily see Murtagh dying. Authors seem to have a favourite character that IS NOT the main one. No idea why but it seems to be a trend. I’m convinced the rider is Arya. Elva seems unlikely to me because she has her role of “Eragons mistake” so I can’t see that happening.

Also I can see Roran dying. I’m sure Paolini loves him and he’s the perfect one to die. All he wants is to be rid of fighting and have a quiet life. From the start he just wanted a regular life and I can just see him being killed VERY close to the end just before a possible “quiet life”

You guys, it will definitely be Elva. Think about it. She has abilities that everyone wants on her side, and she doesn’t know which side she wants to be on. She doesn’t much like Eragon but loves Saphira and is also an outcast who would benefit from a life-long partnership.

I think Roran might be the new Dragon Rider, and that he might take the green sword Tamerlein as is weapon because of his berserker fighting style. Although the theory on Orik becoming the new Rider is pretty interesting too.

idk if this theory has been posted yet but since they never found selenas mother could it be possible that angela is selena in disguise? it would make sense because shes almost always somwhere near where eragon is so maybe angela is selena in disguise trying to protect eragon

I believe the new rider is going to be one of the elven children and I am kind of curious what impact Glaedr is going to make in the next book. And the death in the elvish world is Oromis so that is how we are going to see what they do for dead people and remember we don’t know who Arya’s dad was so that might be her Inheritance……….just throwing some things out there.

I hate to say it but i believe that the elvish death will also be the death of the character talked about above. This death will most likely be Arya. I can’t believe that i am saying that but i believe it is a possibility. If she doesn’t die then i believe that she will be the next rider.

Does anyone know what it was that the Meona tree took from Eragon? Because in the book she didn’t mention it but Eragon felt something in his lower stomach. I have read numerous theorys and the best one I found was:

I have a theory nobody else has mentioned…. When Selena was mentioned in Brisingr, it was clearly written that she died but NOBODY actually saw her dead body…. I have a feeling Angela is actually Selena but reinvented herself to watch over Eragon…. Does anyone have reasons to say this cant be true???

That woman and the teenage girl had me thinking along the lines of Galby’s mistress and kid, ahaha. That’d be pretty neat if Galbatorix had driven them off AKA by shackling the woman’s wrists.

Ok just read through all of the other comments and that theory has appeared quite a lot, so sorry for repeating what many others have said before. I have my own theory for what Tenga was searching for in Brisingr. I believe he may have been searching for a way to power spells from natural forces such as sunlight, lightning, etc. He says “A key to the unopened door, the secret of the trees and the plants. Fire, heat, lightning, light…”. Trees and plants can turn the light from the sun into energy. If a magician could do that he would have almost limitless power.
If Tenga is one of the Grey Folk then it is unlikely that he is searching for the true name of the Ancient Language because the Grey Folk were the ones that invented it. It would also explain why he was able to start a fire without speaking the Ancient Language because if he was one of the Grey Folk it would make sense if he had a superior control over it. Tenga also owns seven compendiums of words in the Ancient Language. These items are very rare for humans to own and even among the elves who speak the ancient language they are not common. It may be that he is not one of the Grey Folk but was an apprentice to one of them. I like the theory that some of the Grey Folk are still around, hiding in the Spine. It gives a reason for Galbatorix’ army to dissappear that is much more plausable than wild dragons that never leave the Spine for their own mysterious reasons.
Also read the below post saying Brom was from Kuasta and speculating that the Grey Folk had a presence in that area. Could it be that Brom and therefore Eragon are descended from Grey Folk? It would tie in with the Fact that Eragon learned magic more easily than most riders and experiences dreams or premonitions. May also be connected to how he was able to scry Arya in his sleep when she is imprisoned.
I don’t know how likely these sound to other people, just like to play with ideas.

It would be awesome if there is any possibilities that Saphiras (brom’s dragon) eldunari would be somewhere and eragon would find it!

Has anybody yet pointed out that all three current riders are Human, to make it more interesting, the final one should be elven. I think Arya’s age is a barrier, but it is still possible. But we don’t know how much time will elapse between now and when Eragon faces the new dragon. Perhaps Roran’s sun may be the new rider. Could be anything.

I just want to make something clear: the colour of a person’s magic CHANGES to what the colour of their dragon is, it doesn’t matter what colour their magic was before. Therefore, even though Arya’s magic is green, it by no means mean that Arya’s going to be the new rider.
Anyway… does anyone think that maybe one of Horst’s son, or even Nofravrel (can’t spell) could be the new rider?
I would also like to add that the new rider appeared in all three books, so it can’t be Vanir, although he would make a great rider.
It’s highly unlikely that its going to be Nasuada either, because she’s already in a position of power, and since this is the INHERITANCE CYCLE, I thing whoever becomes rider should be descended from a rider.

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have people not been actually reading the confirmed facts!? I have been reading some of what other people have put and obviously they havent been reading them. The green dragon rider is going to be MALE! so it can’t be arya or angela, and if it does happen to be one of the elve children then it will have to be the boy. so that should end the discussion of whether arya will be the next rider or not cause im pretty sure she isnt a male!

I’m concerned at the lack of literacy, especially for a discussion panel on a novel series.
I don’t think Arya will be the new rider, it’s far too predictable. I reckon Vanir or an elf child will get the dragon. We already know Arya well, she’s not a character that can be developed on. Vanir, however, is enigmatic and has a lot of room to build characteristics onto. For the sake of writing I think it will be a different elf. Maybe even Rhunon.

Okaay here’s my theory about the vault of souls and the rock kuithan. The rock kuithan is a rock out in the ocean where the spirits spawning ground is. Eragon goes there and speaks his true name and gets possesed by good spirits making him a much more powerful rider shade. This would change his true name, thus fufilling angela’s prophecy: you shall leave alagaesia and never return. It fits the facts. In Brisingr CP wrights that there has never sbeing a shade that was also a rider. Why mention it? Unless he is hinting what’s going to happen in the next book.

KAZIMR. don’t be a fucking douche. it is OBVIOUSLY not Roran because Eragon is holding the Rider’s hand at the end. This would be somewhat homosexual if he was holding Roran’s hand. In addition to this, Roran was recently married and will have a child, the fact that his entire storyline would be so drastically changed is unlikely. It IS Arya. There are no other potential riders. Who else would Eragon hold hands with at the end? Plus, it would be kind of awkward for Roran and Eragon sitting in a tent while Saphira and green dragon get to know each other outside. Just saying.

I can’t wait for this bookto come out. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

So i would like to make a couple of points or “theories” of my own.

With half of Galbatorix’ army disappearing in the spine, this foreshadows either something sinister lurking the depths of the forest or something in hiding, something so secret that Galbatorix’ lost thousands of soldiers. Perhaps remnants of the Grey Folk, or maybe a group of wild dragons, or these “new creatures” that Paolini has mysteriously hinted at.

I really like the idea of Elva being a shade it opens up a whole nother level of trouble. Now i cant remember exactly what Elva’s skill was, i know it was something to do with pain, but wasnt she able to know what someone was able to, before they do it? I think a shade with this ability, a ROGUE shade, may prove fatal for either Eragon or Galbatorix, perhaps an unholy union between the two to destroy this abomination.

Maybe an army of shades like wolves, bears and the like. But get it… Elva becomes a shade and the dragon hatches for HER and… well fuck me im not sure if i even want to think of that… haha.
Lets see, Green Dragon RIDER! who fricken cares its obviously a central aspect, im keen to delve into the more mysterious side of Alagaesia, the spine holds so many mysteries i love it! and about the Vault of Souls… Maybe its the Eldunari of all the dragons that perished in the wars between the Dragons and Elves, perhaps in learning more about the first Eragon, this comes into play.

What about Ra’azac or however its spelt, a “magically-twisted” version of it, some horrible demon spawn that Galbatorix creates to kill Eragon. Man im coming up with all this crap like, draconic shades, army of shades, shade elva, ra’azac all jumped up on roids… Its like i WANT everyone in alagaesia to die haha!

I think that Eragon will help Murtagh change his name, so he will go to the Varden and prove to be trustworthy. They will team up and kill Galby’s dragon. He will hatch the green egg and while he was speeding up the process, he gets killed by Arya and then Ayra takes his dragon as her own (remeber that Galby’s Dragon was FORCED to do Galby’s will), and she loves Eragon, and Saparia loves and mates with either murtgah’s dragon or Ayra’s.

Arya and Roran had better not become the new riders. Roran is much better suited to be just a plain old human, and it would be very stupid if he became king. And Arya… God, I hate Arya.

. . . . I don’t think Arya should be the green rider. Personally, I’d like to believe that it will be someone less predictable. Because in book one, after you found out that Eragon had no idea who his father is, and this spunky old man (Brom) decides to leave Carvahall with him, you probably already have that idea in your head that Brom just MIGHT be his father. At least you hope. I certaintly did. And also, Arya. Lots of people predicted that Eragon would become infatuated with her. (An “epic romance” if it was one. If your definition of an “epic romance” was him hiding behind bushes thinking to himself “OMG Arya is soo hot!!” Not that he actually said that, I would be appalled if he did and I’m not saying that it would be impossible for him to have another romance with another person of royal birth.) But what I’m saying is that a lot of things in the book were predictable! (Not that I don’t like the predictable-ness of it, because frankly I tend to dislike big surprises, but come on, who DIDN’T predict that Murtagh would turn out to be related to him, AND that there was secretly another rider somewhere out there – Oromis/Gladr.)

Dragons do not hatch until they feel the presence of their rider. I find it very unlikely that a baby dragon – however wise it may be – just decided that in the circumstances of war, his rider was not going to find him in time, and just hatched and is now flying around the mundane Alagaesian countryside, looking for a suited rider.

Absolutely can not wait have totally lost myself in the magical lands of alegasia and cannot wait to return to my friends in the varden although sadened by the fact that it may be for the last time

I think that Murtagh will find a way to free himself from Galbatorix and he and Thorn will escape from Galbatorix and take the egg to the Varden, only he’ll leave it there so they won’t see him. Also I think that Saphira might mate and then have her eggs on Doru Areaba

well i hope Saphira won’t die, but if i think it over, if she do survive than the whole thing could start over again. After all if theres no females left to breed out new dragons than only males would be there. So there would be only 1 Rider left to look after Alagaesia. Basicly the green rider would Inherit Eragons role.

Saphira will die during Eragons fihgt with Galbatorix leaving him to finish Galbatorix off.
Roran or Orik will die trying to save Eragon in the last second, possibely from murtagh, barely allowing Eragon to escape. The rider i think will be Angela. It would be much too stupid if arya became the rider. It needs to have some twist to it. I don’t think Arya will die.
