Early Life
As with every elf, Arya was trained to fight with a sword and a bow. She also learned to fight with magic.
Family
Arya's mother is Queen Islanzadi, the Queen of the Elves who lives in the elven capital Ellesmera, located in the great forest known as Du Weldenvarden. Her father was King Evandar who was slain at the battle of Ilirea. When she was chosen and accepted to carry Saphira's egg, her family all but disowned her.
Physical Description
Arya has long black hair that is held back by a leather strip. When outside Ellesmera, she dresses in plain black leather. She wears a sword at her hip and carries her bow on her back. When in Ellesmera she allows her hair to flow freely and does not carry any weapons. She wears the elves soft tunics, felt pants and the elves soft socks(in the book she is mentioned to have worn a green tunic cinched at the waist with a girdle adorned with moonstones.) She also has the Yawe tattoed on her right shoulder in indago ink
Childhood
Not much is known about Aryas childhood. She was most likely was raised only by her mother because her father would have been killed by the Forsworn when she was less than five years old.
Adulthood
Arya has had an eventful adult life. She has taken part in raids and battles, had disputes with dwarf priests, negotiated treaties, and done many other things.
Elves Ambassador
At about the age of 30, Arya, against the will of her family, became the Elves ambassador to the Varden. During her tenure as ambassador, Arya traveled far and wide amongst Du Weldenvarden. She ferried Saphira's egg back and forth between the Elves and the Varden. When in Farthen Dur and in the elven cities, Arya would parade the egg past children, each hoping that the egg would hatch for them. It was Arya's job to protect the egg during its transportation.
Imprisonment at Gil'ead
Arya was traveling to/from Osilon when she and her companions were ambushed by Durza and some Urgals. While her companions were killed, Arya was able to jump off her horse and run off into the woods. Before the Urgals caught up to her she magically transported the dragon egg into the Spine. The only reason Arya escaped in time was because her horse prevented her from riding into the ambush. After sending the egg into the Spine, Arya was captured by the shade and taken to Gil'ead. At Gil'ead she was whipped and beaten repeatedly.

Role in Battle of Farthen Dur
Arya had played a major role in the Battle of Farthen Dur. She fought Urgals and killed many Kull. When Saphira was endangered by a Kull, she fired an emerald ball of energy and killed the Urgal. Arya then remained in the Dragon Hold and helped Saphira take off her armour while Eragon slid down Vol Turin. After helping Saphira take off her armour, Arya realized that Eragon was in danger, climbed onto Saphira and shattered Isidar Mithrim. Shattering the Star Sapphire made Durza look away, enabling Eragon to thrust Zar'roc through Durza's heart.
Eragon
A large portion of the first book is centered on Arya. She is attacked and captured, tortured repeatedly to the edge of death, rescued and taken to the Varden, and finally she helps Eragon kill Durza.
Capture
At the very beginning of the book she is riding to/from Osilion with Saphira's egg and her companions Faolin and Glenwing, when she was attacked by the Shade Durza and a band of Urgals. Durza and the Urgals jumped out of the bushes and attacked Arya and her escorts. Arya managed to jump off her horse in time, but her companions were not so lucky. Faolin and Glenwing were struck down by Urgal arrows. Arya then took off into the forest, distressed that her friends had been killed. She managed to magically transport Saphira's egg to safety. Unfortunately for her, she was captured by Durza.
Torture
After being captured by Durza, Arya was taken to Gil'ead. She was whipped and beaten and administered potions to suppress her magical abilities. She was also given poisons and later she would be given the antidote, sometimes by force if needed. When Durza could not break Arya and make her reveal where the Elves were hidden, he told the guards to use her as they would. Arya was able to keep the guards away from her by disabling them with the last of her strength.
Rescue
After several months of being tortured Arya was finally rescued. She was saved by Eragon who had been captured by Urgals and imprisoned in Gil'ead. Just like Arya, Eragon was drugged and had his magical ability suppressed but Eragon was able to figure out that he was being drugged through his food and water. After a while Eragon regained his magical ability and broke out of his prison cell. He then broke Arya out of her prison cell and with the help of Murtagh and Saphira escaped Gil'ead.
Flight to the Varden
After being rescued by Eragon, Arya was unable to regain consciousness and talk to him. She had been poisoned with the Skilna Bragh and was in a state that slowed the poisons progress through her body. Once Eragon found out that she had been poisoned and would die within a few days unless she received the antidote from the Varden, he and Murtagh took off to try and save Arya. Along the way they encountered slavers who wanted to capture and sell them off when they got back to civilization. After dealing with the slavers, Eragon and Murtagh were chased by Kull, ferocious Urgals all over 8 feet tall. After a long and fast paced horse ride, Eragon and Murtagh managed to get Arya to the Varden before she succumbed to the Skilna Bragh. But at the Varden's secret entrance, the Kull caught up with Eragon and Murtagh, Saphira was badly injured from arrows and Eragon fell into the lake in between the fight. A dwarf named Orik looking from a secret place from behind the rock disobeyed his rules and grabbed Eragon from the lake and Saphira, Eragon, and Murtagh got in safely.
Battle of Farthen Dur
During the Battle of Farthen Dur, Arya fought Urgal magicians and killed many Kull. When a Kull rushed out of no where and injured Saphira, Arya fired a green ball of magic at the Kull to kill it and prevent it from hurting Saphira any further. Injured as she was, Saphira managed to fly Arya and Eragon to the dragon hold, where Arya proceeded to help her take off her armour and heal her wounds, while Eragon slid down Vol Turin, to fight the Urgals. Once she had helped Saphira take off her armour she realized Eragon was in danger. Durza was about to kill him and there was no time to slide down Vol Turin. Arya did the only thing she could. She shattered Isidar Mithrim, the Star Sapphire and climbed onto Saphira, this distracted Durza long enough so that Eragon could thrust his sword through Durza's heart. Arya then held the falling shards of the Star Sapphire still in the air while Saphira landed them on the ground. Then Arya slowly lowered the pieces to the ground, keeping them from killing Eragon, Saphira or herself.
Eldest
In Eldest, Arya takes Eragon to the Elves. Along the way she gets into a heated debate with Gannel - Clan Chief of Durgrimst Quan - over whether or not the Dwarven gods really exist. She also teaches Eragon the customs of the Elves. In Ellesmera Arya shows Eragon around the city and teaches him about Elven history, introduces him to great poets and artists, and takes him to concerts. During the Agaeti Blodhren, Eragon confesses his love for Arya and she tells him that her feelings for him are that of a friend and nothing more. After this she leaves Ellesmera and rejoins the Varden in Surda. Eragon soon joins her. Arya and Eragon fight Galbatorix's army when the Varden is attacked.
