When Eragon the First discovered the egg that held his white dragon, he knew that a peace could be made between the two warring species, the elves and the dragons, by using an ambassador, or what would later be called a Dragon Rider. Eragon the First raised the white dragon in secret, and named him Bid'Daum. As Islanzadi noted in Eldest, his name cannot be spoken in any language. Finally, when Eragon came of age, he rode Bid'Daum between the battle lines, which caused a momentary silence. However, it appeared that Eragon's escapade caused much more than that. Though it took a while, the Dragons and Elves agreed on peace and, to make sure nothing like this would happen again, the Elves used their magic to bind Dragons to Elves and humans, creating the Dragon Riders. Little is known about Bid'Daum, not his family and not his personality. In fact, the only thing that Christopher Paolini talks about when Bid'Daum is mentioned is the color of Bid'Daum's scales: snow white.
