The Fall of the Dragon Riders refers to the period of time from Galbatorix's confiscation of a new dragon to the time of his self-proclamation of ruler. Near the end of this time period Brom killed Morzan, but Brom's dragon Saphira died in battle while protecting Brom. The only other Dragon Riders known to live in this time period are Vrael the leader of the Riders, who was killed by Galbatorix, and Oromis, who is the only known existing rider of old.
