Eragon will PROBABLY kill "Galby", because that's what everyone wants, and if he doesn't I will personally be very angry. Roran will succeed the throne. Anyway, Angela said that Eragon would have to leave Alagaesia forever...-Kayla

I think that Galbatoraix will obviously die, but he will either kill Nasuada, Islanzadi, or Arya, and Roran would be my next guess as to who the future ruler will be. -zack

Another posibility is that, when Galbatorix's first dragon was killed, he summoned spirits to kill the Urgals, but they were too powerful to control, and they took control of him. He could've used magic to hide it, and is freed at the end of the third book. Insane, I know. -lewis

As previously said, Galbatorix must be killed by Eragon , or Paolini's faithful readers will feel very disappointed. All of his books will have lead up to that point, and for Galbatorix to survive... It just doesn't seem right. --Enmire 23:26, 22 November 2006 (EST)

How is Galbatorix going to die? There four possible people that could kill Galby. Eragon-he is was and still is the first rider of the new generation of riders, and if he kills Galby it would make the story so much more impressive and it would prove CP was an extrordinary writer. I mean what could be better than having the main character of the story kill the main villian of the story? Roran-Simple choice-he kills Galby while Eragon and Arya fend off Murtagh. Roran takes the throne and claims himself as the king of Alagaesia and announces his queen..... KATRINA, because obviously Roran will not wait long to find and rescue Katrina especially now that he knows that she is alive. Arya-Arya is a possible canidate because as it said in the book or maybe in some interview I listened to, woman riders were just as strong or stronger and smarter than the male riders, and since Arya is older than Eragon she is probably smarter than Eragon, way smarter. I think that Eragon is more likely because he has a better vocabulary of the Ancient Language, he knows how to take energy from his environment and he knows how to open his mind to the environment and pay attention to his surroundings. Murtagh-One sentence will explain this choice. At the last second, Murtagh swirled around and stuck his hand-and a half-sword through Galbatorix's heart! There ya go. -Eragon1

ya that's an awsome idea, if Murtagh killed Galby it would be sweet revenge plus it would be more exiting because everyone thinks Eragon will kill Galby.--- Inheritnce freak

I think that Galbatorix or Murtagh will raise Morzan from the dead, and when Galbatorix is torturing Eragon in Uru'baen, Morzan will kill Galbatorix. -Shadeslayer

Think about it. Eragon is currently the most powerful person in Alagaesia besides possibly Saphira and definitely Galbatorix. He has the power of the elves and the Dragon Riders. Murtagh is a rider, but he's only human. Eragon would have been able to beat him in the battle if he had been fresh. Eragon and Saphira are the only ones able to kill Galby. -- Andromeda

I think that Roran and Eragon will try to rescue Katrina and Galbatorix will end up there right when they are escaping. Roran gave a promise to Katrina that he would never ask her to leave in the face of danger "even if we faced Galbatorix himself" (pg 180) and I think that will get him into trouble. He'll ask Katrina to leave but she won't and they are having a huge argument with Katrina finally submitting, then somehow while Roran and Eragon are fighting Katrina sneaks up from behind and kills him... -The Helpful Hand

Warining, This theory might be going out there but just stick with me. Okay, Elva has to protect people from danger... correct? So if she was near Eragon when he finally fought Galby, she would have to get in the way... right? Now here comes the twist. What if she gained more control over her protection magic through time and experience, so what if she is able to redirect magic at its caster? If Galby tried to attack Eragon she might have to get in the way, save Eragon... and redirect the magic at Galby, killing or hurting him enough for Eragon to kill him. Like I said this was a wierd theroy it work on what ifs, so you don't have to take it seriously, it was just a thought. -Yacob

All very good theories. Galbatorix will die at the hands of Eragon but will kill Murtagh before he dies with the ancient language. -Anonymous

You seem to act like you know this for certain. What proof do you have? Also, I stumbled upon this on page 396 of Eldest. It's in the 5th to last paragraph: (Eragon speaking to Saphira) "Perhaps our task is not to overthrow Galbatorix but to prepare the way for the next rider chosen by the remaining eggs." I thought that might mean that Eragon will leave Alagesia forever before Galbatorix is killed. The person on the beach could be the next rider screaming about how they don't want to be the person to kill Galbatorix. i know this is a bit far fetched, but it IS a possibility. -Eringon

Is it possible that Eragon will break the spell that Galbatorix holds over Shruikan, and that his own formerly enslaved dragon will exact vengeance upon him? Otherwise my vote is for Murtaugh and/or some combination of Murtaugh/Eragon/Arya. -Chid

Why did CP spend time telling us that the bond between Shruikan and Galbatorix isn't as strong as the bond between normal riders and their dragons? He could have easily just skipped telling us that and it wouldn't have mattered. Maybe he told us that so he could make Shruikan betray Galbatorix at the last minute because their bond wasn't as strong. -Eringon

In the summary of Eragon in Eldest, it says that Shruiken is made to serve Galbatorix through the use of "certain dark spells". Maybe this isn't the right place for all of this discussion... I just like the idea of Shruiken killing him or at least helping. That and I don't think that humans, elves or dwarves could become powerful enough to do so - only dragons. -Chid

Someone said that they heard that all female riders were as strong as males. However, I believe it says the egg was paraded passed BOYS who had reached their tenth year of age. I also believes when Brom tells Eragon how they were trained to do magic, he used the word boys. As to everything else, it's simple. Arya and Roran (possibly Murtagh b/c Eragon somehow frees him) all come at Galbatorix at once (with Eragon) and get wounded, or at least KOed. Then Eragon kills Galbatorix in a wizards duel through sheer luck. (a sword fight would work too, but something just nags me about Brom saying "run away from one as fast as you can")

all good theories, but after 100 years give or take, unless quite litterally all heck breaks loose, i dont think that shruikan will randomly stomp galby to death. unless all the magic users get together and try to break galbys black magics that bond him and shruikan. however, i think it would be too mutch of a risk for everyone, because to ensure he lives, galby proaboably would've reinforced the bond with smaller scale spells as oromis did.-matt aka me

To who said elves, dwarves, and humans couldn't be powerful enough to defeat Galby. There is no man who is invincible to every other man in ALL conditions. AFM

If I remember correctly, it said that female dragons are stronger than male dragons, not their riders.

I remember nothing of the such.... maybe wild dragons stronger than riders. Quote it for us. AFM

AFM, whoever was "talking" before you was right. In Eldest, Oromis tells Eragon that wild female dragons were so formidable that it was considered a privilege for one of the rider's dragons to mate with one. -Spirit_of_the_Dragons_Lost

I thought it just said wild dragons were so formiddable, it was considered a privlege to mate with them. That could be a female (ridden) male (wild), or vis versa. I lost my eldest... I think it's in the car. Look at that part again and quote EXACTLY what it says with a page number AFM

here you go " Fierce and proud were the wild dragons, even arrogant.... the females were so formidable, it was accounted a great accomplishment among riders dragons to mate with one." Glaedr pg.440 eldest --eragon1301

So I am proved wrong. AFM (or was that just Glaedr's bias as a male dragon... i mean, he wouldn't mate with a male wild dragon)

the book defentally just ment that the wild dragons were strong not that the females were any stronger ive reas that passage many times and i think that it simply ment that they were hard to get with lol(if u kno wat i mean) but more seriously said. -Patteh

Come to think of it... formiddable doesn't necessarily mean BIG, it's just Scary and mean.... AFM

Agree.Do u people think dat galby lost half of his army in the spine is because of giants or wild dragons?-Eragon ShadeHunter

im thinking a varden/elf attack because they thought they would be weaker and they picked then off. -Patteh

Hold on, don't Urgals live in the Spine ! May be Galbatorix lost half his army to the Urgals ! He never liked the Urgals anyway, and we can see how vicious they are by what they did during the siege of Farthen Dur in Eragon - privsy

Eh, I disagree.... perhaps the mountain has some sort of mind of it own.... sorta like LOTR! But on the offhand about the convo a couple lines above... from webster's online on formidable: 1 : Causing fear, dread, or apprehension 2 : Having qualities that discourage approach or attack 3 : Tending to inspire awe or wonder So in conclusion... WHERE are the words that indicate that wild fems are STRONGER than their counterparts? Hmmmm?? The passage merely states that the females were probably.. oh how do I say this.... all bark and no bite? No... no... well anyways it states they were merely held in a awe by the tame dragons and their riders... their ferocity scared the tame ones to the point where it was like "Awwwww SCORE! You got in with a wild one eh?" "You da MAN!" "You beast!" (lol)

Shruikan will kill Galb. Why? simple. Paolini has already borrowed from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. In Star Wars, Vader kills Palpatine to save his son. In Lord of the Rings, Grima gets fed up with Saruman and kills him. Why should this instance be any different?-inheritanceFreak Editor

Dude, there is one thing that i hate about people. Yes Paolini borrowed some from other stories but like 94% is his ideas. Shruikan won't kill Galbatorix that would just be retarded I mean, it would just be wrong if Eragon didn't have a part in Galbatorix's death... So I highly doubt and hope that Shruikan won't be the one to kill Galbatorix. - Brom Fanatic - 17:18, 15 July 2007 (PDT)

One more thing saruman isn't dead he is locked up in his tower... and who the heck is Grima there isn't any Grima in Lord of the Rings.

Grima was one of Saruman's servants. Saruman didn't die in the movies, but if you read the books he tried to take over the Shire and failed when the 4 well known hobbits lead a large group to retake the Shire...... Grima stabbed Saruman in the back (literally) shortly after the Hobbits completely took back over..... Besides, Luke kinda kills Palpatine by bringing out the Anakin Skywalker in Darth Vader. AFM

I actually WANT Eragon to die bfore he gets to kill Galby. Then somebody else could come and kill him.Or he could just beat everybody and keep being king; -Svits

uh, i dont know about anyone else but i dont want to read 2000+ pages ( that is if the third book is big, and i think it will be) just to find out that the life of the person i've been following around is pretty much pointless and that the entire reason for the story was never met. no, i definatly think Eragon wont die(plus, dont forget Angela's prophecy saying long or eternal life)-Leon

How will Galbatorix die by weapon or magic(I want your opinions)

If for example Eragon found a way to free Murtagh, destroy Shruikan's bond and have the third rider on his side, then perhaps they could preform some powerful rite and destroy Galbatorix- Eragonshadeslayer

OK new theory. I havn't read eragon or eldest since a while ago but, you know how Galbatorix's dragons isn't really his? He took it from another rider after his died right? Well if it isn't really his dragon, and he isn't realy his rider, so if i'm not mistaken, then the rider of that dragon must still be alive somewhere right? - thenewrider

No, they say that Morzan kills the original rider for Shruikan. - faith

this a bit crazy but what if when Galby is fighting eragon is about kill him and goes insane with rage and summons up magic far to powerful for him destorys or weakens himself that be cool twist -Anonymous

Here's a thought: Murtagh will sacrifice himself to save Eragon at the hands of Galbatorix; but Eragon will enter Galbatorix's mind and draw upon his immense centuries of strength which will be enough to bring Murtagh back, but will kill Galbatorix in the process. -Ericat9

Does anyone wonder why gaby lost half his army in the spine? The answer is urgals i believe when eragon was goin through the 4 ram's minds that he found they lived in the spine and that he would always be welcome in their halls eragon could go there for help and i think a root from the monoa tree could lead him there and tat would be his weapon~Kramer~

just cause i haven't seen it mentioned yet, what about the whole rock of kuthian/vault of souls thing (from solembum)? i'm just throwing it out there, but i think eragon will meet galbatorix once, and not be able to defeat him. then "all is lost/power insufficient/etc" and he would go to the vault and speak his name and whatnot. then he'll be stronger or something, and take on galbatorix again, and (presumably) win. - notanothernameshamelesslytakenfromthebooks

I hope that Murtagh kills Galby. I know its improbable...., but a girl can hope...right? Probably going to be Eragon, though...-sigh- -What's Up
