Hand-and-a-Half Sword

A Hand-and-a Half Sword has a blade similar to a regular longsword but the handle is diffeerent. As the name says, the handle only takes one and a half hands, ie, one hand is place directly under the guard and the other grasps the pommel and the rest of the handle. The point of the hand-and-a-half sword is to provide some of the reach of a claymore, but to be easier to handle in a fight. (A claymore, it is said, is a shield and a sword in one because of its massive reach). Murtagh uses this type of sword.
