The Kull are a type of Urgal that are more powerful, larger, and have more endurance then normal Urgals.
The Kull in Eragon
A group of Kull first appear when Murtagh and Eragon are trying to get to the Varden. The Kull surround them but Eragon and Murtagh escape. The Kull were killed by the Varden.
The Kull returned to fight at Farthen Dur.
The Kull in Eldest
The Kull appear in Eldest more than Eragon, their first appearance is when eragon, saphira, murtagh and arya are fleeing from the urgals and kull that are pursuing them on their flight to farthen dur, and to the varden. Near the end of the second book, at the battle of the Burning Plains they appear again. They appear to be on the Empire's side, but approach the Varden in Surda to join forces because of the Empire's lies and broken promises. Many of the Varden despise the Kull for killing so many people. Eragon and other members are also on the verge of killing them, but after inspecting the kull leader's minds for treachery, eragon allows the Kull protect him and Saphira in battle. Eragon and Saphira slowly learn to trust the Kull, more than they ever thought they would, as their battle prowess and dedication begin to change eragons biggotry into tollerance, and respect for both their abilities and their dedication.
The Eragon Movie
From what we have seen and heard the Kull will not appear in Eragon but in a version of the Eragon video game we see the Kull. Unlike the Urgals in the movie, the Kull have huge, curling horns, are as large as giants and carry flaming war clubs. From what we have seen they don't look anything like the Urgals either.
