Lethrblaka are the mature form of the Ra'zac.
Overview
According to Oromis, when Ra'zac reach their twentieth year, their true bodies free themeselves from their twisted shells and become Lethrblaka, winged beasts whom are fit to hunt any creature that lives and moves. The Ra'zac that are still in their shells use their parents, who are Lethrblaka, as transportation. Also, they are described as having "all the intelligence ofa dragon. A cruel, vicious, and twisted dragon." as opposed to their narrow-minded yet cunning offspring.
In the Ancient Language, Lethrblaka literally means leather-flapper, deriving from the word Blaka, which means flapper, or winged.
Appearance
According to an excerpt from the Third Chapter of Book Three released by Random House, they have bulging, rimless, black eyes, a seven-feet-long beek, batlike wings, claws like iron spikes and a naked hairless torso rippling with muscle.
Role in books
In Eragon, Eragon suspects them to be large birds, but their true forms are revealed outside of Carvahall in Eldest.
In Eldest, Roran Stronghammer encounters them on his flight from Carvahall three times: When the Ra'zac capture Katrina and Sloan, when they are searching for the villagers on the trail, and on the banks of the ocean, where it is revealed that they are deathly afraid of deep water.
