Discussion

I don't know if she'll play a larger role in Book III, but we all know at least her swords will be in it. I, personally, think that she might have been a Rider whose dragon was killed by the Forsworn, hence the reason for not making any more swords. Also, it would explain her depression and ability to age when other elves do not. -Vanillaface

I don't really think so.--Svits 18:42, 14 April 2007 (PDT)Svits

Probably not, that would just suggest that there are EVEN MORE riders out there, which lessens CP's credibility of what he has already written. AFM

that and i think that she said something about not doing it because of something with the Forsworn, but nothing about her having a dragon.-Bacon

all elves age, if they didn't they would be babies forever.what you are talking about makes no sese though. even human riders will live forever if they are not killed by something that isn't natural. and she is an elf so she has always been immortal. remember, all elves shape themselves to tier ideal of perfection, and being so old she probably wants something to remind her of the passing time. remember, she was taught by one of the greatest dwarf blacksmiths of all time, who was living long in the past. that just shows her age.-Leon

i pretty sure that it wasn't that all elves do shape themselves in their ideal form, but that most of them do and that's why they're called the Fair Folk.-Bacon

most of them do, yes, but that is for things like apperances to make themselfs the image of perfection in thier own minds. either aging has no effect on an elf's apperance after a certain point, or she chooses to look that way-Leon

i don't know, i think that all elves age and keep aging, but they just do it very slowly because they are immortal.-Bacon

No. It says in Eldest that ERagon only knew that Oromis was old because of his eyes because they were deep and denoted a great wisdom. My guess stop at certain point, unless they so choose. AFM

ok im kinda neitral on the aging debate but she could CHOOSE to age, as could almost any other magic user....im assuming eragon could if he knew the spell...and oromis could choose NOT to...or its also possible that rhunon simply has left her apperance unaltered, allowing her to age. CP hasn't really said they can or can not age (after a certain point)if left unaltered

thank you for saying that, because that is how i feel about it too.-Bacon

Anyway, they don't age to the point of dying, and apparently their movement isn't hindered (except in cripple cases) AFM

where did it talk about that?-Bacon

when they first met Rhunon, who is one of the oldest elves in Elesmera (if I'm not mistaken on that) she had a huge amount of speed and precision while working on the mail. Eragon, a terrific human swordsman, new INSTANTLY when fighting Oromis (a cripple who occassionally has episodes) that he was out powered. I think the only thing that's gonna stop an elf from balancing and fighting quickly is both legs chopped off. AFM

then you just contradcited yourself there. you just said before their movement isn't hindered (except in cripple cases) and Oromis is a cripple and his movement isn't hindered.-bacon

I minorly contradict myself at times.. He's a mentally and magically cripple, not really physically. AFM

true true true, it was a minor contraiction.-bacon

He is mentally criple but at times like after the blood oath ceremony his strength fails him- the very very wise

The blood oath ceremony is filled with magic. His little energy was largely devoted to it. AFM

All of those years of her head over a burning hot furnace probally made her face look old but shes Rhunon, she doesnt want to be out in public i dout she cares about wat she looks like. -Patteh

Does it really matter? She's an elf so she's invincible anyway. AFM

Dude i was just tryin 2 get a convo started in this thingy -Patteh

Lol.... my bad..... I like to try and end arguments though. AFM

Oromis is a physical cripple, remember his illness that causes him to lock up with pain momentarily, then afterward he is tired-Leon
