About the Show
ShurtyCast is the leading Inheritance Cycle podcast. Released every other week, ShurtyCast covers all topics of the series, as well as the movie and game, and keeps you up to date on the latest happenings at Shurtugal.com. Consistently ranked in the top 50 of all talk radio podcasts on iTunes, ShurtyCast is a must-listen for any hardcore Inheritance fan.
As Manin, Wyrda, Hugin
The show was originally titled Manin, Wyrda, Hugin, or "Memory, Fate, Thought". The show was titled MWH for the first five or six episodes, when the name change began. Until Episode ten, ShurtyCast was in transition, and was called MWH/ShurtyCast.
Change to Shurty Cast
By Episode ten, the cast decided to rename the show to ShurtyCast. The RSS feeds were changed, as was the description. The show will remain ShurtyCast long into the foreseeable future. A new logo is being designed by Shur'tugal designer Joelle Saveliev, and a new website is also under construction.
The Hosts
The hosts of ShurtyCast are always changing, with Mike Macauley a constant host. Originally the show's hosts were Mike Macauley, Joelle Saveliev, Matthew Heck, and Mat. After a few episodes some of the cast left, and Robert Cox joined. After Episode nine, Tim Bach joined the cast. Joelle has presunably left the cast at the same time as she left the Shur'tugal staff. Below is information about the current cast.
Mike Macauley
Mike Macauley is the owner and webmaster of Shur'tugal. Mike is one of the original hosts, and is responsible for the day to day running of the site. Mike also brings information to the show of the many trips he attends for the site, including ComicCon International, and E3.
Robert Cox
Robert Cox has been with ShurtyCast since Episode three, and is known on the show and to the site as simply 'Bob'. At times crazy, and generally unhelpful, Bob makes commentary on every other part of the show. Bob is also one of the show's editors.
Tim Bach
The newest addition to the cast, Tim joined during Episode nine. Tim is the head admin of SF3(the Shur'tugal Fan Fiction Forums), as well as an editor for Shurtugal, and generally does anything that needs to be done on the site. Tim is, as has been noted on the show, generally quieter than the rest of the cast. Tim is the more recent editor of the show.
Audience
ShurtyCast is subscribed to by many fans of Shurtugal and the Inheritance Cycle around the world. Current statistics show that each episode is listened to by upwards of 2,000 listeners, who subscribe to the show through podcatchers such as iTunes and FeedBurner. Additionally, there are listeners who download the show directly from Shur'tugal.
Technical Information
How the show is recorded
ShurtyCast is recorded on Friday or Saturday night/early mornings. The cast uses microphone headsets and the popular VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocal) software Skype. When the show is recorded, all cast members open the freeware program Audacity and begin recording their microphone. The tracks are then exported to MP3, and uploaded to the server. The editor, Tim or Bob, then merges the tracks together and edits out unwanted content.
How the show is released
ShurtyCast is now hosted on LibSyn to save bandwidth and provide better stats tracking. Once a final show is produced, it is exported to mp3 and uploaded to the LibSyn server. An episode synopsis is then written and the show is added to the RSS feeds.
The Show's Website
Coming soon, ShurtyCast will have a seperate website, ShurtyCast.com. The site is currently in the design phase, with Joelle Saveliev again designing the site.
Guests and Interviews
ShurtyCast has hosted many guests on its shows, including Christopher Paolini in episode 5. In episode 4 Simon Lipskar, Christopher's agent was interviewed. In episode 2 Lindsay Anne Klemm is interviewed about the music she composed for the books. In the very first episode, Kim Kincaid (a.k.a. "Fatty Lumpkin") is interviewed about the art that she's doing about the books.

Contacting the Hosts

Comments
If you have any sort of comment about the podcast as a whole, a single show, or to one of the hosts, please use the above form. The hosts will receive it.
Theories
We also value theories sent in to the show. Periodically we will do a show completely focused on theories, or sometimes we will just bring them up on a normal show.
When Theories are Played
Theories are played in the User Emails section towards the end of the podcast, unless it is a user-theories podcast.
What if my theory wasn't played?
Don't worry. We may have saved it for another show, it may have already been discussed, or we may just have decided not to use it.
Voicemails
Voicemails are messages played on the podcast which feature questions, comments, theories, or suggestions. Voicemail is a common way for listeners to hear their personal questions asked.
How to record a voicemail
To record a voicemail listeners must have a microphone, recording software, and, of course, a computer. The best quality free recording software, which ShurtyCast hosts use, is the easy-to-download Audacity. When Audacity is downloaded to the listener's computer, the message must be recorded. To record a voicemail a microphone plugged into the computer and Audacity is all one needs. When Audacity is open press record and record a message up to 30 seconds for the ShurtyCast hosts. Once the message is recorded, the Lame MP3 Encoder is needed. When the encoder is fully downloaded and tested, take your message and export it as an mp3, saving it somewhere easy to find.
How to send us a voicemail
Attach your MP3 message to an email and send it to podcast at shurtugal dot com.
About playing voicemails
On almost every episode of ShurtyCast, voicemails from fans are played and the hosts express their thoughts on those messages.
