Swords are weapons that consist of a metal blade stuck into a wooden or metal hilt. A handle is attached to the hilt and is often wrapped with some material to improve the grip. At the end of the handle is a pommel, which is often metal.
Swords often have names. The Riders had swords with jewels that could store energy. For example, Eragon used the energy he stored in Zar`roc to help fuel his attacks so that his own reserves could be used later.
Swordplay can be defined by some as the act of fighting roughly with a sword. Swordplay has no defined art, but can be altered to, and considered such. Throughout the Inheritance Trilogy's first two books, swordplay is seen in effect as dueling. Brom taught much swordplay to Eragon through their journeys.
Rhunon the elf smith is a famous swordmaker, the swords made by Rhunon never became dull or blunt.
