On March 18th, a newsletter was sent out from Alagaesia.com that told us a surprise spoiler for the third book of the Inheritance Cycle. When we visit the spoiler page it reads, "In Brisingr, the next book of the Inheritance cycle, Eragon will meet a god." Who could it be? For theories on this subject visit the Book III and IIII (Theories) page.

i think that when the new king of the dwarves is crowned eragon will meet some deity. or eragon might find one hiding under the menoa tree- edoc'sil eld jierda

I believe it could be Selena. For all we know she could be...anything! Maybe this is the reason she left Eragon's father, who also remains to be unknown, but theorized as Morzan. Anyway, we don't even know much about Selena, so, yes, Eragon's mother could be the god. -Heir

well nothing said it had to be a actual god, it could be an over-exageration of a charector's power, or it could be a real god. if it is a real god, then the question is which one, if there is more than one. also, no one said it was a good god, we know Eragon will be in Helgrind in the third book, and Helgrind is worshiped by the people of Dras Leona, and that was a very stange religion. also, something i have thought of, what if the god is in the rock of Kuthian, because if i were looking to become more powerful, a god would sure be able to give me that power-Leon

We can't do a lot of speculating because we don't have enough info, but I'm wondering will the god be, like, in human form on Alagaesia, or will Eragon take some spiritual/mental journey?-Halfelven

Hey, what about Oromis? I believe that he is pretty powerful. Who knows... Person

Hey, does anybody know what religion CP is?-Halfelven

remembering angela's prophecy, regarding how eragon is destined to leave alagaesia forever, i think the two seem kinda connected. meeting to god could be the thing that forces eragon to leave, or by leaving he meets the god, something to that effect -notanothernameshamelesslytakenfromthebooks

As far as we know.. it could be an all knowing dragon.. or better yet, the gaurdian of the vault of souls?

Has anybody given any thought to the possibility that this God that Eragon meets is actually one of the Grey Folk? Diminished as they may be, there could be a few kicking around somewhere keeping an eye on things (Look how long Oromis stayed hidden). If Eragon was to meet one of these folk, especially if it was one of the folk who worked on the great spell that gave the language its current control over magic, then it only makes sense that they would know things about the language that nobody else would (like the name of the language itself perhaps?)

WOAH!! idk who you are, but that is SOOME theory! I like it! And you may have just spoiled the book without knowing it. XD! but who knows...maybe he will, maybe he wont. -Heir

could it be angelas tutor? the one eragon met running back after dealing with sloan?? he seams to be the only new person met in this book... its doutful because he was tryin to figure out the universe and the world around him... i liek what the person said, 2 posts before me, mabye that was a grey folk.. however mabye Paolini said that god thing before he knew that the book would break into two books. -guau mi fuerza

i think ur right it's that hermit dude-Halfelven

All you guys are nit wits... First up Selena and all those characters can not be gods because they look nothing like them....a god looks like the combo of races not just two. Also the Grey Folk ARE the GODS!!!! Here let me explain.... When the male and female gods had mated they produced offspring whom had genes of one race stronger than the other....the gods have all the genes of the races and when they mate, their offspring become more of a different race until finally, a new race comes out after several generations.. Perhaps the gods are so powerful because they know all the words by heart and they have enough power to make new ones... But i think the grey folk became deceased and only the originals were left because the spell to bind the Magic was feeding of their race... Until finally...The spell was satisfied but only a few of the grey folk were left.

So my conclusions are that all races came from the Grey Folk and that they are one with the Gods... But also i percive that the Ra'zac are not natural beings , the very reason they cannot use magic like all the other races, and are a demonic twist of either A demonic and necromatic twist of a creature A new creature made by shades... Or perhaps a dragon called up spirits and turned into a shade without knowing and mated to produce evil offspring... Azure X
