Though formidable in their own right, the Twins were rarely described within the book and were not exactly important to the Cycle. However, they have their purposes, as demonstrated by Murtagh’s explanation of his whereabouts in Eldest. Roran killed them in the final chapters of Eldest, possibly ending their influence on the course of the Cycle.

Physical Description
Throughout Eragon, they are short, bald, but all the same fearsome.
Allegiance
Originally, they were employed by the Varden to search the minds of those who ender the Varden for traitors and liars, and they appeared to be some of the Varden’s most crucial recruits. However, it was revealed in Eldest that they were in fact working for Galbatorix.
Their Capture and Betrayal
Perhaps their most crucial addition to the series occurred at the Battle of Farthen Dur. They were still pretending to be loyal to Ajihad and the Varden. The Twins had been a part of a group with Ajihad, Murtagh, and some soldiers that were sent to kill the rest of the Urgals left from the Battle. They had gotten together an ambush of Urgals. They slayed Ajihad and captured Murtagh. They tormented him while forcing him back to Uru'baen to be brought before Galbatorix, eventually forcing Murtagh to become like his father.
Names
They are never referred to, even amongst themselves, as anything but ‘The Twins,’ Though Orik the dwarf had reffered to them as Egraz Carn meaning Bald One.
The Wandering Path
The Twins, with a few other magicians from the Varden, created an organization called The Wandering Path. The Twins tried to ask for Eragon to join, but he said no.
Quotes
Feel free to add any interesting quotes relating to the Twins!
Ajihad: I cannot tell you their names, for they have none.
Orik was quoted speaking with one of the twins before Eragon's interrogation, (p. 381 Book I) "You'd better not harm him, Egraz Carn, else the king will have words for you."
Theories

- Prior to Eldest many fans believed the Twins to be the Ra'zac. Since then it has been revealed that the Ra'zac is a completely separate species.
- Prior to Brisingr, a theory was that the Ra´zac and the twins might be connected, and here's how. Galbatorix may have used magic to cloak the ra´zac, making them appear to be human. Have you ever noticed whenever the Twins are around, the Ra´zac are not around, and vice versa. Also, when they confront Eragon in the first book, their voice sounds "uncomfortably like the Ra'zac". And at the end of Eldest, they die and the Ra'zac are not seen for the rest of the book. However, the Ra'zac are still alive after the death of the Twins.
