I don't really know of a kinder way to say this, but the theories pages are abysmally moderated. A wiki is not a forum; typing a "stream of consciousness" is not good etiquette for a wiki, nor is it easy to read. It is presented in a very biased, unprofessional way, and I found it hard to navigate and follow the comments.
I find myself agreeing with you on the state of the theories pages, but we have decided that any user has a right to edit them as they feel needed, which may include typing "a stream of consciousness". However, the general rule about this is that the theories pages are acting as forums for the users to post their opinions. In addition, all theories from users have weight with or without accurate evidence - for the theories pages, a gut feeling is enough to go on.
It seems like the attitude at the wiki is still very much structured in a hierarchy similar to a forum: a few individuals who have proven their worth sit above others. What they say is important and carries greater weight than an "average" user. Although this structure is good and necessary in a forum due to its conversational nature, it seems out of place in an open wiki where all should be able to freely edit. Surely, there needs to be moderators to ensure no harm is done, and perhaps that whats-his-face over there uses correct capitalization. But they shouldn't have "special sections", and their articles shouldn't be above editing, and their contributions should be equally valued as any "average" Joe.
I'm not quite sure what you mean, Martin. Of course we trust information more if it's posted by our 'regulars', such as you and Spyderchan. Not only have you (for the most part) learned our format and how we run, you have proven yourselves trustworthy.
The one special section I know of is Carnoc's theories. Please understand that Carnoc is a staff member and, as you have campaigned for before, his theories are supported by dozens of articles he has written for the site, based on the trilogy. As such, his work is almost Shurtugal's 'official' theory - and on a Shurtugal wiki, that does carry weight. However, if by special sections you are referring to pages that have been locked for editing only by staff members, then that is because we do not want them changed anytime in the near future.
Having written many of the Charachter articles myself, I can tell you that they are nowhere near what they were when I posted them. They have been edited, and grown, and I am very glad for that. Our articles are not "above editing", and this would be a very sorry wiki if they were.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, please post on my user page, not on the forums. Thank you! - Cate
