Elain is a Carvahall villager who has a larger part Eldest than in Eragon. She supports the men with the Ra'zac attacks in Carvahall and helps to shelter Katrina from Sloan.

Elain is married to Horst, the blacksmith in Carvahall. She has two grown sons, Albriech and Baldor, and in Eldest she is pregnant with another child.
[edit] Physical Description
Unlike most villagers in Carvahall, Elain has fair hair. She passed this trait to Albriech. Curiously, she is portrayed with dark hair in the movie.

Elain helps nurse Eragon back to health after the skin gets stripped off of his legs after his first flight with Saphira. She also helps him when Garrow dies.

In Eldest, Elain is pregant with her third child.
