[edit] Family
There are only two known living family members, Arya, her daughter, and Niduen, of unknown relation. Arya is a close friend of Eragon’s, and his love interest, but Niduen is only mentioned in passing when she sends clothing to him.
[edit] Royal Lineage
Her lineage is that of several royal houses, and was given the term Drottningu when she became the Queen. The earliest mentioned Elven royalty is Tarmunora, an Elven Queen, who presided over the bonding of the Elves and Dragons. She was Islanzadi's grandmother-in-law, though she may have been of a different house. Her mother, Dellanir, ruled for hundreds of years, before abdicating to her son, Evandar. Evandar then fell in love with the princess Islanzadí.
[edit] Physical Description
Islanzadí was as “beautiful as an autumn sunset”(224). Her dark eyebrows are slanted, and her lips bright red, and raven coloured hair. She carries herself in a upright and regal posture. She often weards a cloak of swan feathers.
[edit] Attitude and Personality
She leaves little room to manouver in conversation and is used to getting her way. This makes her stubborn and Eragon recognises these qualities Brisingr.
Even during his confrontations with Durza, he had never uncountered such an implacable determination and ruthlessness. Brisingr p 85
[edit] Arya
Though little is known of Islanzadí, it is clear that about seventy years before Eldest, when Arya was about thirty, she and her mother had a falling out. Arya disappeared, and the Queen proceeded to exile her. However, ever since Arya's ambush in Du Weldenvarden, she had “barely slept or eaten”(226), haunted by Arya’s fate. Arya did not share this feeling of loss, and in meeting her mother once again, she is defiant to a fault. However, they reconciled at last, and they embraced.
[edit] Eldest
Though Islanzadí was not a key character in the second novel, she wields a great amount of power and is a force to be reckoned with. As the queen, she presided over many of the events in Ellesmera, including Eragon's arrival and the Blood-Oath ceremony.
[edit] Brisingr
Brisingr, she lets Eragon send Sloan to Elesmera. She also fights in many battles.
[edit] Book IV
One theory states that Islanzadi will die in Book IV, as each group's leaders have passed away so far, except the Elves (and of course the Empire's leader King Galbatorix). This is in connection to the theme of Inheritance, as each new leader inherits their new title. However, the heir to the throne, Arya, has expressed disinterest in leading the Elves in Eldest:
"Even now I would not be required to become queen if I found the prospect distasteful. We do not choose leaders who are unwilling to devote themselves wholeheartedly to their obligation... I had many years to perfect those arguments with my mother" Eldest p309
